Fake Dowry Case - Women held for forgery and criminal conspiracy..

A woman who allegedly attempted to implicate her husband in a dowry case, has herself been booked after a magisterial court directed the police to register an FIR against the woman and her family for giving dowry.

The order of the court came while hearing to a petition of complainant Manish Kumar against his wife Pratibha and his

in-laws, who had accused him of demanding dowry prior to and after marriage. .The SHO of the concerned police station is directed to register FIR as per the law and ensure the matter is properly investigated., said Judicial Magistrate, Gautam Budh Nagar in Noida.
In the petition filed through his counsel Pradeep Nawani, Manish had alleged that his wife, who had estranged him within six months of their marriage, had tried to implicate him in a false case and that the list of dowry articles was forged and fabricated. Pleading before the court, Nawani submitted that Pratibha had illegitimately been demanding for brand new car from her husband and also threatened to implicate him in false case of dowry if the demand was not fulfilled. He further alleged that the petitioner was also threatened by his in-laws when he went to them to know the whereabouts of his wife.

Earlier, the woman had approached the Crime Against Women (CAW) cell of Delhi police alleging that her husband his family had been demanding dowry even after marriage.

Following this an FIR was lodged with Dwarka police station under sections 498 (A), 404 and 34 of the Indian Penal Code that deal with subjecting a woman to cruelty by her husband or inlaws. The petitioner said that he had also petitioned before the SSP of Noida in this regard, but feeling aggrieved he approached the court alleging that his wife and her family had also committed an offence by giving dowry. “Keeping in view the facts produced before the court, I am of the opinion that prima facie an offence has been committed”, the Magistrate said while directing the SHO, Sector-39 police station to register the case.

The petitioner Manish Kumar and his wife Pratibha, both software engineers, got married in December 2004, and had been living together in Noida. The petitioner said that the dispute between them arose because of the excessive parental interference, which prompted her to leave him.
The woman had alleged that her parents had already given dowry articles worth Rs 24 lakh but she was still being subjected to cruelty demanding more money. Meanwhile, the police have registered a case against the woman and her family members under section 3 of the Dowry Prohibition Act for giving dowry, and sections 285, 389, 506 and 120 (B) of Indian Penal Code that deal with extorting money, criminal intimidation and criminal conspiracy.

Wouldn't it be great if your mobile phone could tell you when a friend is close by or when you are close to a restaurant that your friend recommends? Or, how about getting specific advertising messages based upon your preferences and physical location? These are all examples of location-based mobile messaging.

Geographic Messaging Service or, in short GMS, is a new media in mobile messaging, aimed at providing similar functionalities to its subscribers. It is the delivery of messages associated with a particular geographic region to subscribers, when they are in that region. It allows subscribers to leave or receive SMS or MMS where they matter. For example, you may perhaps “leave” a shopping-list near a super-market as a reminder and “receive” it the next time you in the vicinity of that super-market. Or, perhaps a coffee-shop selling overpriced coffee could send across discount coupons to your mobile when you enter the region. GMS basically builds on the existing SMS and MMS services and provides for a more geographically targeted peer-to-peer communication. The term GMS was coined by researchers at the Bell Labs.

Earlier this month it was announced that Alcatel-Lucent innovation has turned the promise of GMS into reality with their 5130 Geographic Messaging Services Platform (GMSP) and their suite of Geopepper applications. The GMS platform solves the challenge of excessive bandwidth requirements. Service providers can now efficiently generate income by offering their customers location-based social-interaction, information access, and targeted push advertising on mobile devices.

Lets learn a little more about this new innovation and technology!!

What is Geopepper?
Geopepper is a novel Location-based Social Networking Service for cell phones that delivers content and buddy alerts around your current location.

So, you have a cellphone and are walking around your neighborhood or lounging at your pet coffee shop. You are bored. How would you like to receive a small number of messages on your cellphone that are relevant to your location? Like:

Your classmate from grad school or your customer contact is nearby (only when they and you want)
A mobile “post-it” note your friends have left for you telling you to try a new chinese restaurant (or, to avoid it!!)

The Geopepper application, using the GMS platform opens the doors for all these features, and then some. The technology underlying GMS is called GeoFencing – detecting when a cellphone crosses a virtual geographic fence.

What is GeoFencing?
GeoFencing is all about figuring out when you enter an area (“geographic fence”) like a block around Hard Rock Cafe or the airport. When a mobile phone user crosses a given “fence”, it triggers the delivery of an SMS/MMS message that is relevant to that individual and that location, such as the promotion for a particular store, or the presence of a friend or associate in that area. While this sounds simple, doing it automatically can drain out your cell phone battery, network bandwidth, computing resources etc. There are special techniques in the GMS GeoFencing Engine that minimize the resource drain and make large scale geofencing applications possible. Geopepper is just one of the services possible on top of GMS. Several other next-generation mobile applications such as “proximity” marketing and social networking, “kid-tracker”, and other opt-in mobile applications developed by service providers, content suppliers etc. can now be made possible.

The GMSP is in trial with both mobile network operators and enterprises, including the Indianapolis Colts of the U.S. National Football League, which is currently testing the 5130 GMSP and its Geopepper social networking application as a way to extend the MyColts.net social networking community.

When eight year olds play soccer (football) something interesting happens. Both teams form a giant rolling pack of random legs from which, occasionally, the ball will emerge only to be recaptured a few seconds later. I’m being a little bit unfair. The goalkeepers do stand in their goals looking forlornly at the pack as it winds its way around the field. I wonder if psychological evaluations are needed to identify the kids who are least likely to crack and run into the pack rather than stand alone between the posts?

What does this have to do with companies and projects? I’m glad you asked. I often wonder if some managers don’t need psychological evaluations to see if they think that behaving in a similar manner makes sense.

Lets see - is there a crack team that is rotated into and out of projects to fix them when they are going wrong? Do projects get temporarily abandoned so that everyone can work on the current most important project? Have you seen these things happen? I sure have.

The crack team and learned helplessness
If projects can’t get done without a crack team of staff to fix things then I’d say (with no TOC expertise) that you have a pretty obvious constraint to the number of projects that can be done at one time. There are other problems - how do you think it feels to be one of the people who are underskilled, undertrained, underexperienced or undertalented and so are pushed aside while the crack team comes in to fix things? Pretty bad. Demoralizing. Insulting. “Why bother trying since were so bad?” “Those crack team guys will come and fix things anyway…”

Basically, a culture of learned helplessness is created. Everyone in the company begins to believe that the only way things can really happen is when the crack team is put on the case. It is self-fulfilling. As those excluded from the crack team see more and more reinforcement of the need for the crack team to fix their problems (or the problems of other teams) they can’t help but see themselves as somewhat incapable and inferior. This leads them to act in ways that are somewhat incapable and inferior.

Many of the practical day-to-day skills needed for software development are best learnt on the job from peers. If the crack team approach is used by a company then the crack team will get better and better since they are continually work with quality peers. Naturally, the remainder of the company doesn’t get this benefit - since they get to work with the leftovers - people who don’t have great skills to pass on and they have a mindset that leads them to believe that the skills their peers have aren’t actually very worthwhile (otherwise their peers would be in the crack team).

If you can do something about it - then start to wean your company off crack teams as soon as you can. Of course there will occasions when skills need to be imported into a project to help. But just as there is a difference between scratching your bum and tearing yourself a new one there is a difference between a couple of people helping out and a bunch of people taking over. Helping is good, teaching those being helped is better. Taking over is bad. Avoid wasting the talents of those not in the crack team. Split the crack team up amongst all projects. Your overall throughput will probably go up. Sack those people who weren’t in the crack team and who can’t or won’t perform. Give everyone in your company the opportunity to learn from your best and to be their best. I promise that you will be surprised.
